Electricians · Perth, WA
An offsider for Perth electricians
Perth runs the better part of a hundred and fifty kilometres from Joondalup to Mandurah, so the constraint on a Perth run is the driving rather than the paperwork, two jobs in the same city can be ninety minutes apart. What is unusual about the work itself is the water: rain has to be kept on the block it falls on, and on much of the coastal plain you find the water table before you have finished digging.
yo drizzy is a set of AI agents for trade businesses. Tell Drizzy what needs doing and he books it, texts the crew, writes the quote and chases the invoice, what that looks like for electricians.
What you would say, in Perth
What is different about electricians in Perth
The part nobody puts on a page like this, because it takes longer than swapping a city name in. yo drizzy does not lodge any of it for you. Knowing it is on you, and knowing which job it attaches to is the bit software can actually help with.
Western Power, and not much else to work out
The Perth metropolitan area sits on one network, so unlike Sydney or Melbourne there is no boundary running through the middle of town and no working out which distributor a suburb belongs to before you can lodge. Given Western Australia already asks for three separate documents on every job, having only one place to send two of them is the state going easy on you.
Three days is shorter than a Perth week
The Notice of Completion has three days on it, and a Perth run can put the crew an hour and a half from the office in either direction. Work finished on a Thursday in Mandurah is due before the next time anybody is back at a desk. That deadline is the reason the notice wants to leave the job rather than the office, which is a habit rather than a system, until it is a system.
Working in Perth
The rain that lands on the block stays on the block
The City of Perth puts it in four words, stormwater to be retained on site. Direct disposal into the council system is something that may be approved in exceptional circumstances, not the default, and where there is no adjoining street drainage or the existing system cannot take the flow, the owner applies to have the council system extended or upgraded. This is why soakwells are a normal line on a Perth quote and a foreign idea in Sydney, and why leaving them off is not a small omission.
The management plan comes before the permit, not with it
Where a construction or demolition management plan is required as a condition of development approval, it goes to the City of Perth Development Approvals Unit before you apply for the building or demolition permit. If it has not been approved, the permit cannot issue. That is an ordering rule rather than a paperwork rule, and getting it backwards does not cost you a form, it stops the job while everybody waits for a document somebody thought was a formality.
And WA, wherever in it you are standing
Three documents, two recipients, one job
Western Australia asks for more paper than anywhere else and it is spread across the whole job. A Preliminary Notice before the work starts, under regulation 51. A Notice of Completion within three days of finishing, under regulation 52. Both of those go to the network operator, or to Building and Energy where there is no network operator. Then an Electrical Safety Certificate within twenty eight days, under regulation 52B, and that one goes to the person the work was done for. Three deadlines from one job, and only one of them is about the customer.
Keep all three for five years
Copies of the preliminary notice, the notice of completion and the safety certificate all have to be kept for at least five years. Three documents per job, held for five years, across every job you do, that is not a filing problem you solve with a folder in the ute. eNotice handles the lodging, but what you can put your hand on in year four is still your problem.
Questions Perth electricians ask
Does yo drizzy know the Western Australia rules?
It keeps your jobs, your dates and your money straight, which is what the paperwork runs on, but it is not a compliance product and does not lodge anything with a regulator for you. What is on this page about WA and about Perth is sourced and dated below, so you can check any of it against the government page it came from.
I work across 7 council areas. Does that matter?
Not to yo drizzy, a job is an address, a day and who is on it. It matters to you, though: City of Perth, Fremantle, Stirling and the rest each have their own forms and their own turnaround. What this helps with is remembering which job is waiting on which one, because that is the part people lose.
