An offsider for Sydney concreters

Two jobs eleven kilometres apart in Sydney can sit in different council areas, on different electricity networks, under different permitted working hours, and the drive between them can take an hour. Nothing about that is visible from the address, which is why the answer to "can we fit that in Thursday" is a genuinely harder question here than anywhere else in the country.

yo drizzy is a set of AI agents for trade businesses. Tell Drizzy what needs doing and he books it, texts the crew, writes the quote and chases the invoice, what that looks like for concreters.

What you would say, in Sydney

driveway at chatswood friday, pump booked for seven Friday, 7am. The crew have it.
standing plant permit still not back for the marrickville pour Flagged. Friday is at risk and nobody has been told yet.
did the liverpool slab get invoiced? Invoiced on the 9th, $6,480. Still unpaid, 16 days.

What is different about concreters in Sydney

The part nobody puts on a page like this, because it takes longer than swapping a city name in. yo drizzy does not lodge any of it for you. Knowing it is on you, and knowing which job it attaches to is the bit software can actually help with.

The truck cannot get there, and the pump needs a permit

Terrace streets, one way runs and metered kerb mean a Sydney pour is usually a pump rather than a chute, and a pump is standing plant, which is its own council permit rather than something you sort on the morning. Price the pump, price the permit, and know which of the two has the longer lead time before you promise anybody a Friday.

A slab next to a main is an approval, not a pour

The inner suburbs are laid over old sewer. Excavating or building next to a Sydney Water asset means the plans go to them for approval first, and if the asset needs protecting you are engaging a water servicing coordinator on top. On a job where the slab is the first thing to happen, that approval is the whole programme, and it is the sort of thing that is only obvious once somebody has stood in a yard on a Friday with a truck booked.

Working in Sydney

Two sets of clocks inside one council

The EPA recommends construction runs 7am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm Saturday, with nothing on Sundays or public holidays. The City of Sydney is tighter than that and not uniform: 7am to 7pm weekdays and 7am to 5pm Saturday in the city centre, but 7.30am to 5.30pm weekdays and 7.30am to 3.30pm Saturday everywhere else in the same local government area. Same council, two answers, decided by which street the job is in. A 7am start that is fine in the CBD is half an hour early in Redfern.

And NSW, wherever in it you are standing

Five thousand dollars, and concrete gets there fast

Residential work over five thousand dollars needs a licence, counting labour and materials together. A driveway is over that line before the truck has left the plant, so for practical purposes every residential slab and drive you pour is licensed work.

Twenty thousand, before the deposit

Go past twenty thousand dollars on residential work and home building compensation cover has to be in place before you take a deposit or start. On a big slab and driveway package that is not a rare event, and the money usually moves before anybody thinks about the paperwork.

Questions Sydney concreters ask

Does yo drizzy know the New South Wales rules?

It keeps your jobs, your dates and your money straight, which is what the paperwork runs on, but it is not a compliance product and does not lodge anything with a regulator for you. What is on this page about NSW and about Sydney is sourced and dated below, so you can check any of it against the government page it came from.

I work across 6 council areas. Does that matter?

Not to yo drizzy, a job is an address, a day and who is on it. It matters to you, though: City of Sydney, Inner West, Waverley and the rest each have their own forms and their own turnaround. What this helps with is remembering which job is waiting on which one, because that is the part people lose.
